NOVASEAL Cable Lubricator

Armoured electro-mechanical cables and wire ropes represent a major investment. Services are usually very demanding, with heavy payloads, costly equipment and human factors all involved. Reliability is a prime requisite in most cable uses.
Many of these operations involve harsh and corrosive environments. Failure to maintain cables on a regular basis can cost the user in three very significant ways:

1) REPLACEMENT COSTS
Obviously extending the life of your cable is going to reduce costs. Proper and regular maintenance can extend cable life five times or more.

2) DOWN TIME
Whether owned or leased, the hourly cost of specialized equipment can be considerable. Problems resulting in lost time or labour can be very costly.

3) INSURANCE COSTS
Premiums and awards to injured workers and bystanders are skyrocketing. Equally high are those applying to cargo or equipment damage and loss. Operating with a safe and dependable cable is imperative!

*It can effectively lubricate wire rope with a near circular cross section (such as 18x7 non-rotating cable) provided a high-viscosity lubricant is used.
AN IMPORTANT FACT TO REMEMBER:
Much of the corrosion and wear damage to cables is INTERNAL, where it cannot be detected until failure occurs. The only effective way to reduce and control these two destructive factors is to obtain 'Interstrand Lubricity'. This means assuring that all mechanical cable elements have a full coating of lubricant.
INTERSTRAND LUBRICITY - THE KEY ELEMENT IN EXTENDING CABLE LIFE
NOVASEAL is a proven method of achieving 'Interstrand Lubricity'. When combined with a proper lubricant selection, effective cable protection is assured.
THE NOVASEAL INTEGRATED SYSTEM
The NOVASEAL cable cleaner/lubricator was developed by Brooke Ocean Technology Ltd. to lubricate electro-mechanical cables and to clean all types of wire rope and cable. The system performs the following:
- washes with high pressure jets of water
- dries with compressed air
- lubricates under pressure with a medium to high viscosity lubricant
The NOVASEAL system is comprised of two sections; one for washing/drying and the other for lubrication. Each section can be used separately.
WASHER/DRYER FEATURES (SUITABLE FOR ALL CABLE TYPES)
- 4 Carbide tipped washer nozzles for long life delivering up to 1500 psi, to blast away dirt and corrosion.
- Quad high velocity slotted air injector nozzles, for rapid drying of cable.
- A pair of quad yoke high pressure hose harnesss with quick connect fittings.
- Dry lubricated nylon guide bushings and stainless steel latching clamps, as on lubricator.
LUBRICATOR FEATURES (SUITABLE FOR E-M CABLES AND SOME TYPES OF WIRE ROPE)
- Unique Spiraflex seal system, with neoprene stabilizers adjusts to the shape of the cable. This assures maximum pressure with minimum lubricant loss and seal wear.
- Super slip nylon compound bushings, with dry lubricant molded in, centre
the cable, assuring even seal wear and balanced lubricant application.
- A lightweight, high strength aluminum alloy casing for ease of handling and long service.
- Pressure gauge allows direct monitoring of lubricator chamber pressure.
- Rugged stainless steel latching clamps, assure tight fit that resists vibration and stresses of long service use.
TRIPLE BANK SPIRASEAL SYSTEM WITH NEOPRENE STABILIZERS

The closely spaced, flexible nylon filaments take the shape of the cable. They constantly adjust, to firmly close off any air space. The stabilizers prevent excess flair of the seals, maximizing their efficiency. Tests indicate that seals will give up to 70,000 feet (21,500 metres) of service, depending on cable type and surface condition. Seals can then be reused on larger cable, giving an added cost benefit.
ADDITIONAL WIRE CLEANING ACTION
NOVASEAL also employs a coiled brush cleaner to remove heavy deposits from the cable. When used in conjunction with the NOVASEAL unit, the coiled brush cleaner will scrape deposits of grease and dirt off the wire prior to entering the NOVASEAL.
